Xbox Live sees huge advances in January By Michael Thompson | ArsTechnica The past few weeks have been good for Microsoft, especially the company's Xbox Live service. Thanks to some major releases and demos, the service has seen record numbers of downloads and new members. In the first week of its availability, the demo for Halo Wars received over two million downloads by Live users. Those of us who have played the demo have definitely enjoyed the taste provided, and Ensemble Studios' shutdown is still a bitter pill to swallow... hopefully the spinoff studios will provide games that are just as good. January was also the largest biggest single month in the history of the service, with over 1 million people using the Netflix streaming service. Meanwhile, downloadable content for games like Fallout 3's Operation Anchorage and Knothole Island for Fable II were two of the most-downloaded items on the service. |
